When one watches television and hears the words “Priceless,” what is the first thing one thinks of? Mastercard; so when I had to chose on what commercial to use, I decided to use a Mastercard commercial that has been banned. I enjoy watching different Mastercard commercials because some of them are cute and funny. One of the main reasons I chose this particular one is for the humor behind the sexuality. The sexuality behind this particular commercial is very different from the ones you normally see. This clip focuses more on what is said than what is shown. Mastercard always had interesting commercials and always tries to tie humor into the commercial whether it is in the beginning or at the end. In each commercial there are at least two things that cost money, and for the last item they use something “that money can’t buy” ,and are able to use word priceless. While watching it, one is be able to see how they incorporated their usual tactics into something that had some more humor. I personally like this commercial, because it makes one believe that something is free. For example, when he uses the cheesey line, “I love you so much.” And then the narrator goes “Actually using a line like that: Another $12.00 dollar bottle of wine.” Most Mastercard commercials on the air, say something like “Backpack : $20.00,” and then have a funny ending. This commercial is funny right from the start, but the ending is the highlight. Sadly, this one has been banned and it not allowed to be aired because of inappropriate content.
Sorry it’s late!
I like your choice
The fact that they said blowjob was obviously why it didn’t air but it made me laugh which is good! Good point that it makes something seem as though it’s free, but the costs leading up to it are still there. Mastercard is “free for now”. Money can’t buy a lot of things but for the things it can buy, “mastercard”. Good commercial and good point as to why it is “free”. Hopefully in the essay you talked about the fact that the things bought with mastercard leading up to the humorous or priceless part were for the most part inexpensive items that add up to a lot. That gives the illusion that it is free or inexpensive, but when you can buy things whenever you want then you can easily slip into debt. I think that would be a good rebuttal:). You did a good job with the happy points of the commercial though!
Wow! All I have to say is that is most definitely one of the funniest commercials of all time. It used the classic “MasterCard” outline, only adding a desperate boyfriends plea for his girlfriend to fulfill his special needs. I think almost anyone can relate to something kinky their partner has asked of them on a date and the ironic humor the director used really was priceless. Most guys can say the worst part of dating a girl that lives with her parents still is having to meet the over protective father that is willing to find any excuse to not like u and also any reason to just beat the crap out of you. The way the guy had his arm on the intercom with everyone hearing the conversation was hysterical. I would really hate to be that guy and have to come to the door again for the next date. Great choice for a commercial, I really enjoyed that and it was nice to see something I havent already seen.
